                                            OXFORD CITY BANK HOLIDAY ATHLETICS
Michael Dawes increased his hammer best for the third time in as many weeks at Sundays Oxford City AC Bank Holiday open meeting. The young Banbury Harrier added three metres to his previous weeks throw to claim first place with a best of 37m 65cm. The under fifteen also captured the discus with a best a best of 31m 26cm.
The meeting attracted a strong entry from across the South of England, The Midlands and Wales. This was portrayed in the senior discus with Perris Wilkins in competition with the UK’s ranked number five Nick Percy from Shaftsbury Barnet needless to say he settled for second place. Percy winning with a best of over 56metres to Wilkins ten metres less, this was still a useful distance for the veteran.
 Emily Thompson opted for the 800metres and gained first prize in the under fifteen girl’s just outside her best with a time of 2minutes 23.7seconds.
 Victoria Harte was in fine form in the under thirteen age group winning the 70metre hurdlers with a time of 12.16seconds. She also lowered her 100metre best to 14.49seconds and finished fourth in the long jump. Also in this age group Lily Hamp made a promising start to club athletics with a promising time of 13.1seconds in the 70metre hurdles. There was also a useful performance by young Maddy Cooper in the girl’s long jump.
