Final Chiltern league on 7th Feb

The final Chiltern League event of the season at Teardrop lake Milton Keynes on Saturday 7th Feb produced some fantastic results for Banbury Harriers. The overall series results produced 3 winners, 2 second places and a 3rd place for the under-15 girls.

Overall Series Results:

Under-15 Girls Emily Thompson 1st Place

V45 Woman Michelle Bartlett 1st Place

V60 Me Bruce Hendrie 1st Place

Senior Men Tim Wright 2nd Place

V40 Men Simon Pritchard 2nd Place

The above results are a massive achievement for such a small club and every credit should be given to the athletes for this terrific set of performances.

Within the races themselves there was more excitement on the day as Tim Wright produced an excellent 3rd place finish in the senior men’s race. Emily Thompson again shone coming 1st in the under-15 girls but also 3rd in the British Athletics Cross Country Challenge which was being run at the same time. Michelle Bartlett, Simon Pritchard and Bruce Hendrie came 1st, 2nd and 1st respectively in their vets categories on the day as Bruce claimed yet another medal in what has been a remarkable few months. Elsewhere the team were well supported, most notably by Tia Williams who came 5th in the under-15 girls, despite being in the lower year of the category, but there were also good runs from Rebecca Biegel who was 45th in the senior Women’s race and from Phil Coy, Neil Forbes and Geoff Smith who were 96th, 106th and 113th in the senior men’s race.
